TWINNING WITH THE MINISTRY RESPONSIBLE FOR EDUCATION

The objective of the project was to support and contribute to the capacity building of the Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education, Vocational Training and Literacy (MEPSFPA) in the implementation of the Education and Training Sectoral Development Plan (PSDEF). This support also sought to improve the management and planning capabilities of the Ministry and to develop and implement strategies in order to improve the quality of primary and secondary education.

The key staff assigned to the project made observations, conducted a situational analysis, provided strategic and action recommendations, offered training and mentored ministerial staff in the following sectors:

  • Curricula development (primary education level)
  • Pedagogical supervision
  • Assessment of acquired competencies
  • Initial and continuing education of the teachers
  • Budget forecast and allocation
  • Educational map development
  • Education management information system (EMIS)
  • Management and policy for reducing grade repetition rates in school
